Encoder Products

EPC.png

Encoder Products Company (EPC) is a leading designer and world-wide manufacturer of motion sensing devices. EPC began operations in 1969, producing a line of custom encoders (the original Cube series) from a small, home-based shop. Today, EPC is the largest privately-held encoder manufacturer in North America, producing the most complete line of incremental and absolute rotary encoders in the industry. Meeting the diverse needs of a wide range of global customers, EPC’s core philosophy is that each and every customer deserves quality products, superior customer service, and expert support. Adherence to these principals has enabled EPC to achieve its goal of maintaining long-lasting customer relationships.

Absolute Encoders

Absolute encoders provide position information for a rotating shaft within either a single rotation (single turn) or over the course of multiple rotations (multi-turn). The encoder provides a unique digital code or bit for each increment of shaft rotation. Multi-turn absolute encoders store turns-counting information for instant retrieval, even after power down.

EPC offers both single-turn and multi-turn absolute encoders in shaft styles, blind hollow bore, and thru-bore, with a variety of housing sizes, bore diameters, signal types and resolutions.

Incremental Encoders

EPC's Accu-Coder™ incremental encoders are recognized world-wide for their high quality, reliability, and longevity. Incremental encoders provide position information for a rotating shaft by producing a continuous series of pulses. These pulses correspond to increments of resolution on the code disk.

 Incremental Shaft Encoders

Incremental shaft encoders are the most widely applied industrial encoders in the world, with an extensive range of form factors and output types. EPC offers a broad array of incremental shaft encoders suitable for applications ranging from fine instrument control to rugged, industrial heavy duty feedback.

Thru-Bore & Motor Mount

Incremental thru-bore and hollow-bore encoders are designed to mount directly to a rotating shaft which passes through the encoder. A flexible tether mount keeps the encoder from rotating with the shaft and absorbs shaft run-out or endplay, minimizing loads on the encoder bearings. Motor-mount style encoders feature a machined housing that attaches a hollow-bore encoder to the NEMA frame motor. To meet varied industrial feedback requirements, EPC offers a broad range of incremental thru-bore and motor mount encoders.

Programmable Encoders

EPC's Accu-CoderPro™ programmable encoders are specifically designed for the challenges of an industrial environment. Contained within the rugged, industrial housing is an advanced set of electronics that allow the encoders to be programmed to your exact application needs. Choose from 6 different output types, 32 different waveforms, and program any resolution from 1 to 65,536 CPR – that's 262,144 counts using 4x quadrature counting. Accu-CoderPro™ encoders can also be configured and shipped with specs pre-programmed, no on-site programming needed.

Linear Measurement Solutions

As the term implies, rotary encoders generally provide feedback for rotary motion. However, with the addition of a measuring wheel, gear, or cable-draw assembly, a rotary encoder can also provide feedback for linear displacement or measurement. EPC offers a line of integrated linear measurement solutions. They’re easy to install and deliver reliable, accurate feedback for applications such as cut-to-length, spooling, length measurement and print registration
